Temporary move of bus terminus to North Beach (2 - 20 Nov)

Works to resurface South Esplanade to begin on Saturday

This will include resurfacing the road from the Val des Terres to the Prince Albert Statue and undertaking improvement works to the bus layby. As part of these improvement works, the pavement from Havelet to La Vallette has also been extended.

Like all assets, roads deteriorate over time from vehicles and weather so need to be improved and resurfaced from time to time. This work is taking place as part of Traffic & Highway Services road resurfacing programme, which is planned three years in advance to assist utilities when planning their works and allows better coordination of works to minimise inconvenience to the public.

The work will be undertaken in a number of phases in order to maintain routes past the works and minimise the disruption to road users. In order to ensure the safety of road users and the work force in the road, reduced speed limits will be in place in the immediate vicinity of the works.

The initial phase of work will be undertaken around the Bus Terminus and as a result, the terminus will be relocated to the North Beach Carpark from Saturday 2nd November to Wednesday 20th November inclusive. Parking will be suspended in the accessible bays and Rows A and B as well as a small portion of the 10hr small car parking spaces on the northern side of the car park, from Wednesday 30th October in order to construct the temporary terminus. The accessible bays will be relocated to Row C with Rows D and E being made 2hr parking. There will be two porta-cabins at North Beach, one acting as a waiting room and the other as an information office.

A temporary bus stop will be located outside of Marks & Spencer on The Quay for passengers to transfer, free of charge, to the bus terminus using the 92, 93, 94 and 95 scheduled services that pass this stop every 15-20 minutes.

Bus users can also transfer to any other bus service, for no extra charge, within 30 mins of getting off their previous bus. Therefore, any passengers that would normally disembark at the Bus Terminus can transfer at North Beach to the 91, 93, 94 or 95 scheduled services that would take passengers as far as the Picket House/Albert Memorial before heading up Fountain Street.
